Songkran Thai New Year
Thai New Year Songkran marks the Thai new year. For several days celebrate it with a water festival. Though this leads to one main day where it can only be explained as the largest water fight to be held on earth.
It is impossible to move 1 meter without getting drenched. There are trucks driving around with large containers of water and people throwing water at you as they pass.
Every person on the street appears to have a water gun. Water comes at you from all around.
Atmosphere The atmosphere is just like a carnival, high spirits kindness and fun. If you are here on Songkran, wear cloths you don’t mind getting wet and get involved.
Date
Though there is an official day, the festival date changes from region to region. So you could leave Bangkok to avoid it and travel to Pattaya and find yourself in the middle of it. The date is around the 15th April
